1. THE DETAILS

Registrations, Checking In, and Participation

The Sunny Skate Series is an event series where competitors accumulate points over four separate events. Our aim is to have registrations open for each event approximately 2-3 months prior to the announced dates. All competitors are required to pre-register for their respective divisions and are recommended to do so as soon as possible so they don’t miss out. Each of our divisions are capped to allow for enough time to complete our two day schedule. Please check in and register on time. All registration locations and times are on the Sunny Skate Series Website.

If for any reason you are unable to skate, please let us know in advance and we can refund you if a replacement can be found. No shows on the day will not be entitled to a refund.

NO RESERVE WILL BE ALLOWED TO TAKE THE PLACE OF A NO-SHOW PAID ENTRANT UNLESS THERE HAS BEEN A PERSONAL OFFICIAL WITHDRAWAL RECEIVED BY THE ORGANISERS 30 MINUTES IN ADVANCE OF THE HEAT.

Payment Acceptance

All divisions must be entered through the official Sunny Skate Series registration portal.

Cancellation & Refunds

Competitors who want to cancel their entry may do so with a full refund (excluding admin fee of $10 and LiveHeats fee of $6 per entry). Cancellation must be made 30 days or more from the start of the event.

50% cancellation if outside 14 days.

100% cancellation if within 14 days, unless a replacement can be found.

Competitors may transfer their entry to another competitor in the same division.

Competitors entitled to a refund should expect to wait 10-14 business days for their refund to clear.

Event Location, Times and Heat Duration

The Sunny Skate Series will announce locations before each event. Our primary location is Alex Skate Park.

The event starts daily between 8:00am-9:30am depending on weather and may run until 7:30-8:00pm into the evening, depending on weather.

ALL STREET & BOWL HEATS WILL BE 45 SECOND RUNS, BEST TWO SCORES COUNTED out of THREE ATTEMPTS.

ALL BEST TRICK HEATS WILL COUNT YOUR SINGLE BEST SCORE UNTIL TIME EXPIRES OR OUT OF YOUR ALLOCATED RUNS.

After your heat, make sure you know when you skate next, sometimes this may occur just a few heats later on the same day. Refer to the LiveHeats schedule.

Attendees are advised that latecomers will be unable to participate – we urge you to be punctual.

Attendees are advised to show respect towards event organisers, judges and event staff.

Attendees are advised to clean up after themselves and to leave the facilities cleaner than before we arrived.

Competitor Marshall

Our event Marshall is located at the white Chiggy’s Skateboarding tent where competitors check in for their heats or last minute registration can be made. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of your heat.

At the direction of the announcer, you can enter the skate park to warm up before your run. Please be respectful towards your fellow competitors so everyone gets ample time to warm up.

As a courtesy – Please keep off the park while other divisions are in progress.

Competitors Note

The announcer will advise heat rules and instructions before and during warm-ups.

You are welcome to approach judges before the start of your division to ask what the criteria is. Our judges are current or ex-professional skaters who know better than most. Please respect their scoring decisions, it is likely they know more than you.

Please read and sign the event waiver before competing. This forms part of your signed entry agreement and your obligations

Street Scoring Guidelines and Manoeuvres

To score points in a Street competition, athletes can grind, slide on obstacles and/or flip tricks. It is their choice of what obstacles to use.

Switch tricks are given a higher score because they’re much more difficult to perform.

Judges score street runs on a scale of 0.00 - 10.00 points over a 45-60 second period. Each skater is given 3-4 runs and their best 2 scores are counted towards their total score.

Bowl Scoring Guidelines and Manoeuvres

To score points in a Bowl competition, athletes can grind, slide, flip and become airborne to amass maximum points. It is their choice of what maneuvers and lines to run.

Switch tricks are given a higher score because they’re much more difficult to perform.

Judges score bowl runs on a scale of 0.00 - 100.00 points over a 45-60 second period. Each skater is given 3-4 runs and their best 2 scores are counted towards their total score.
